So why was I reminded of the trilogy, well “2015” of course. In part 2 of the series, Marty and Doc. Brown head to the future to sort out some issues and save the future of the McFly family; their destination, 2015.
Of course when the movie was made, 2015 seemed so far off, but now that we’re here, did they get it right? Well, I wasn’t the only one who was wondering. There were those who wondered about it too and even posted articles on it.
I don’t need to get into details of what they said we should have; of course, skyways and flying cars sure are at the top of my list there. I sure would like a flying Delorean. No.. I WANT & NEED a flying Delorean. It is essential. 😛
Anyways, as the title suggests, let’s get our focus “Back To The Future”. In 1989, the movie got us talking about 2015 and what we hope to see and how far mankind has accomplished. Now that we are in 2015, we need to look at the next 26 years from now.
What do you think the world will be like 26 years from now? And before you go into the bizarre as depicted by the Futurama series, forget it. I hardly think we’ll be seeing and dating sexy siren cyclopses. Although, the bizarre may not be far off.
In the 80s, if you said that we’d be having a device which would make phone calls, take pictures and video, edit and upload them to a central location for the entire world to see, people will call you crazy.
Frankly with all the apps coming out, you’d be convinced that our phones are probably capable of more than that.
In 2004, Disney had a television series called Phil of the Future in which a family from the far distant future came back in time and got stranded here, They each had a device called a “Wizard” which looked like a hyper iPhone that could pretty much do anything. Like it was magic.
We’re not far off from that I suppose, but that may be like wishful thinking.
Getting back to the seriousness though, with everything that is happening in the world today, you actually wonder if there would even be a future. The news & media is painting a grim picture at the moment. It almost seems like the only future that we can expect is a Mad Max meets Judge Dredd kind of future.
I recently came across some links to documentaries released in 2014 about the world of the future and what scientists and researchers are hoping to accomplish; giving us a picture of what we can hope to see. I’ve linked them in below.
But when you do watch it, keep in mind these immortal words..
“Your future hasn’t been written yet. No one’s has. Your future is whatever you make it. So make it a good one..” – Dr. Emmett L. Brown 😉
